I am going to start this blogging thing over after almost a year since my previous post!
A lot has happened in the last year...Addie will be 4 in less than two months, Andy is 16 months, Mike has become a wonderful cook, our10 year anniversary and I have traveled around the world for work. Basically, we have been running around like we are stuck in an endless race with no checkered flag. The kids have grown and I don't know where the time has gone for us. So with this blog...I am going to try to slow down and enjoy our most blessed life! This is easier said then done, but I hope by publishing my experiences, thoughts, and ideas on this page it will remind me of my goal!!!

Time Out?!?
Ok! I would like to know what person invented "Time Out"?!? Addie has been in and out of time time at least ten times today. She has thrown her shoes and chased the dogs to name just a couple of our adventures this afternoon. I have picked her up 100 times and placed her back in the hall corner and it never sunk in for her. I believe that this has all been a result of a stormy and rainy day that has locked us in our house. We only went out for about 2 hours and she was not very impressed with shopping at a wholesale store. I am hoping a good nights sleep will reprogram her for preschool tomorrow or we may have a slight problem.
Therefore, I would like to know what person invented time out - and if they ever met a child like my Addie. I have read several educational articles tonight and I am hoping that next time it may only take once or five times. Any suggestions?

The Beginning...
Here goes...I am not a writer...actually a color chemist by education and a mom by trial and error. The color chemist portion is what I do during the day and I enjoy it 99% of the time. You may be asking yourself "What is a Color Chemist?" and I would reply an individual that dyes fabrics to meet specific needs based upon a designer's or customer's guidelines. (I also do other things, but this is the main portion of my job.) This may sound boring, but to me this is the second most exciting and challenging job imaginable. The first would have to be being a mom to my two beautiful babies!
I have two babies...one girl and one boy. They are two years (really three in August, but can not let her grow up) and five months respectively. They are each so different, but yet still so much the same. It is like someone has placed my husband and I into a blender and pulled out two new individuals. These individuals are so distinctively similar to one or the other, never a hybrid on an either of our characteristics.
Addison (Addie) is the carbon copy of me from the top of her head to her knees (the feet are all my husband). She also has the temper and independance of me, but has the love for music, cooking, and art from her Dad. Christian (Andy) is just like his Dad from the top of his head to the tip of his toes (he got the feet as well). He is so relaxed compared to Addie and seems just happy to be hanging out with us on most days. They both are my pride and joy...
I say that I am working on this mother thing by trial and error because I have always considered myself quite the academic. I worked for several years after graduating with my BS as a Molecular Biology Research Technician in a university and then went back to graduate school for Textile Chemistry. I read all kinds of literature on my projects for work and approached motherhood the same way...and it seems like everything I try from the books does not work if followed exactly. I have tried all sorts of pottie training, time outs, and talking techniques for toddlers - and none of them work. My husband says I should just imagine trying to deal with myself when dealing with Addie, but this has not been successful due to the stubbornness of both parties. At this point, I am trying modified techniques and a lot of calling my mom for advice on how she dealt with me. Therefore, these posts should be filled with all kinds of interesting situations and stories to share with family and friends.
I also wanted to let you know about the easiest job - it is being married to my husband. He knows me better than anyone and takes care of me!! We have been together since high school and tend to know what the other is thinking without any sort of discussion. He is the calm in the house!
Well...I guess this is good for an introduction...I think I am going to lay down as Andy has decided that he needs a 3:00am snack and I have to go to work tomorrow.
